A few places and events not to miss around La Gacilly and the Redon area.
A village full of character, once voted the French people's favourite village, which was historically the administrative centre for the schist quarries of the surrounding villages. The painter Alfred Klots discovered Rochefort en Terre in 1903; he had the present-day château built and helped adorn the village with its now-famous flowers.

Watch the videoA great spot to relax in nature: this natural site can be reached from the Bains-sur-Oust side (35) or the Saint-Vincent-sur-Oust side (56), and even by canoe from Glénac. The Saint-Vincent bank is a towpath along the Oust; the Bains-sur-Oust bank is wilder, with more facilities (including climbing).

The association "Peuples en Images" ("Peoples in Pictures") celebrates the customs, rites and culture of peoples around the world. Since 1991, Didier Haslé has filmed numerous documentaries in Brittany around Redon, as well as in Ecuador and Romania (the village of Lăpuș, in the Carpathians).

Since 2014, a jazz festival has been held in Redon and the surrounding area for a week, generally from 9 to 15 December.

Every year around 10 August, the village of Lizio holds an arts and crafts fair. Around 80 craftspeople showcase their skills, with food on site and Breton music concerts in the streets.
From June to October, more than 1,000 photographs by major names in world photography take over the streets, lanes, gardens and park of La Gacilly. With over 300,000 visitors a year, it's the largest open-air photography festival in Europe — and admission is free.

Throughout December, the village of Rochefort en Terre lights up its streets and has, over the years, become a must-see for the festive season — it was voted the French people's favourite village in 2016.
Tourist officeA major rock festival in Malestroit, at the Daufresne site, gathering several thousand festival-goers every year. Since 2018, it has been held on the first weekend of August.
